One plant in a 4.5” pot. Cold-hardy biennial.
Another stalwart in the low-maintenance, drought-tolerant portion of our landscapes. Known best for its fragrant and medicinal properties, we enjoy growing it more because of its incredible spikes of white and pink flowers, and (surprise) because the pollinators seem to love them just as much.
It’s a biennial - meaning it’s supposed to grow lush leaves the first year, and bear flowers the second year. That said, we often observe first-year plants bearing flowers (we think our spring cold snaps can ‘trick’ the seedlings into thinking they’ve been through a winter). It has been a reliable, but not excessive, self-seeder, so plant accordingly.
