Rhubarb (Crimson Cherry)

One plant in a half-gallon pot. Cold-hardy.

A resilient perennial that will provide you with tangy, vibrant flavor for many years. We love it in preserves (when we find the time to make them), and in a pinch we'll freeze rhubarb, along with strawberries, to throw in a pie around the holidays.

Rhubarb will grow in poor soil, but you’ll harvest bigger, more colorful stalks when it’s planted in healthy soil with lots of organic matter worked in. Compost the leaves - don’t eat them (they contain oxalic, which will do a number on your kidneys).
